For the 2018 TCL season, here is the coaching staff for the Texas Marshals:

Mike Maack (Head Coach)

– Pitching instructor and National Team evaluator for Team USA 18U Baseball from 2012 to 2014 – Pitching Instructor for USA Baseball 17U National Training Developmental Program – 2013 Pitching Coach for the Gold Medal winning Team USA 18U National Team at the 18U World Cup in Taichung, Taiwan. – 5th round draft pick of the Chicago Cubs in the 1979 January draft – Pitched professionally in the Minnesota Twins organization 1982-1985 – Selected to the Double-A All-Star team in 1984 – Mastered the LHP pick off to 1B (100+ pick offs in college and 90+ pick offs in pro ball) – 35 years of coaching experience at the NCAA D1 level, High School level and as a private instructor. –University of Central Florida – Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator (1988-1996) –University of Tennessee – Pitching Coach and Recruiter (1996-1998) –Tennessee Tech University – Head Coach (1998-2001) –Prestonwood Christian Academy – Head Coach (2001-present) –Palmetto Sr. High School as a pitching coach (1985-1988) –Private Pitching Instructor (1981-present) – 6-time guest speaker at the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) National Clinic on Pitching and the LHP Pick Off move to 1B – Currently serve on the Arm Injury and Prevention Committee of the American Baseball Coaches Association – Authored a book titled “The Move” detailing a guaranteed method of teaching the lefthanded pickoff to 1B. – Authored the chapter titled “Pickoffs and Run Downs” in the nationally sold book Gold Glove Baseball by the American Baseball Coaches Association – Guest speaker nationally and internationally at over 50 Baseball Coaching Clinics on pitching – Coached 87 players who have been drafted by professional teams –7 1st round draft picks — 10 MLB players

 

John Hampton (Assistant Coach)

John Hampton is a lifetime baseball coach. He has coached, scouted, instructed and trained at the professional, college, high school and youth levels. Hampton played Division I college baseball in Southern California. He has coached for 22 years winning at the highest levels. Hampton has touched the careers of a 1st and 2nd round draft choice, as well as 16 former players who have played or are currently playing Major League Baseball. Returning to the Texas Collegiate League for the first time since 2005 when he served as the General Manger for the TCL Champion Denton Outlaws. He has served as a missionary in Mexico, held director positions for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Coaches Outreach. A father of two boys and the husband of one great woman.

Brian Duplechin (Assistant Coach)

Brian’s a native of Lafayette, LA and has been living in the Dallas / Fort Worth are for over 20 years now. He’s married with 2 kids and has been around baseball for over 25 years. Brian played High School ball at Lafayette High School in Louisiana and graduated in ’85 and then went on to play at Hinds Community College in Mississippi for 2 years and then at University of Louisiana Lafayette. He’s coached High School Baseball for 5 years along with numerous select / travel baseball teams ranging from ages 8 through 16.
